I have to make a decision.

Posted on: July 26, 2008 4:37 pm

Well, as many of you may not know, I will be a graduating senior this year. Thats right, I will be done with the whole high school life, thank god. So, that means I have to be looking into all the great colleges around. Another thing you may not know is that I'm a highly competitive skeet shooter. Skeet is a shotgun sport, some people have no clue as to what it is so i had to add that little detail.

Anyway, I am looking at Texas State, Tech, Texas University, or George Mason. I am looking at these schools because they have great shooting teams and I have been looked at by those schools to shoot for them. This situation is going to be a tough one as all the schools offer great things in a unique way.

So, I need your help, which one would you pick?

This is going to be hard and a long process before this school year ends. But, wish me luck.

I have to make a decision.

Sorry I can't advise you on the other schools, but my experiences at Texas Tech ('89-'91) in the graduate program (Range and Wildlife Management) were some of my best memories.

Lubbock was fantastic to me and my wife while we were there. It's thriving, but always manages to remember its' roots. To me, it was like a big small town (if that makes any sense). Red Raiders sports fans are some of the best (Guns Up!).

Be sure to hit Lone Star shooting range near Slaton (a few miles south of Lubbock) to keep your skills in order. Can't remember if they've got skeet towers or just trap, but the B. S. sessions and opportunity to make new friends can't be beat.

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck. It's nice to see a young person involved in competitive shooting in these crazy, gun-grabbing times we're living in.

I have to make a decision.

I had no idea you were a skeet shooter, that is rather cool. Choosing a university to attend is a big choice. You need to look at a few things, do you want to be near your family? Are you looking to broaden your horizons and go to a different region of the country? The schools you listed are all good schools, I however am not fully familiar with what the programs offer. You also need to look into what you are wanting to study for a degree and base your decision partly on that.

Follow your heart, it will lead you to where you need to be.
